Cancel trip because of Swine flu?

Ok, TC, Savanna, and I were supposed to fly next week to Texas to visit one of my best friends, Candace, and her family. She had her second child in February and we've had this trip planned for months. However, I have been feeling uneasy about it since the swine flu outbreak especially since hearing about the first death of a 23 month old in Texas from the swine flu. I talked to Southwest today and they said that we could cancel our flight and would not lose any money. The funds would just be reserved for us to use at a later date. I am nervous for several different reasons-probably one of the easiest placese to catch it is on an airplane because people could be on it from all over, and there are cases in Texas right now and not in Utah and I would not want to be the one to bring it BACK to Utah. And they just don't know what it is yet and how it can be treated! I am mostly worried about taking Savanna because she is so young. I will be really disappointed to postpone our trip because I have been looking forward to it. I also don't want to disappoint Candace and her family(though we definetely will come later) but I'm leaning towards the philosophy of "Better safe than sorry." I know I am prone to be overly cautious at times but am not sure if that is the case this time. What would you do? Any advice is appreciated!

Happy Anniversary!!

Today TC and I celebrate our four year wedding anniversary! I just wanted to tell TC how much he means to me and how grateful I am to have him as my husband. These last four years have been wonderful and filled with memories. I know there are more wonderful memories to come! I want you to know, TC, that you are an amazing husband and father! Savanna and I are very lucky to have you. You are patient, kind, humble, and always treat me well. You are there for me whenever I need you. I love you! TC also decided to purchase me the best present yet on our anniversary! Drumrolls please...we found a house!!! We are actually signing the paperwork today to go under contract. We are super excited. Since this is not a private blog, I do not want to give too many details on it here but I will let you all know more in person! Oh and to clarify, TC did not actually buy me a house for our anniversary, we have been wanting to buy one and it just turned out that we are signing the paperwork on our anniversary. It does make this anniversary unique, however!

Good luck Marisha!

This weekend TC's youngest sister, Marisha ,came for a visit after spending a semester in BYU-Hawaii. Savanna and I picked her up from the airport and she came off wearing an I love Hawaii shirt and had a pretty, Hawaian flower in her hair. We have been so jealous of her spending the last four months in the beautiful sunshine! She flew back to Washington yesterday and is then heading to Alaska for about 6 months. TC's other sister, Kristin, her husband John and their two little girls live there. Marisha will be working in their family business. We had a great time visiting with Marisha and wish her the best of luck in Alaska! This weekend a couple ot TC's aunts and his grandma were in town and we were able to spend time with them as well. We are so grateful for our wonderful families! April, me, Savanna, TC and Marisha at the Olive Garden

Savanna stats and update

So I haven't done an update on Savanna's "stats" in awhile for her doctor's appointments so I thought it would be fun. We took Savanna to her 15 month appointment yesterday (even though she is almost 16 months-her year appointment was a little later because of the holidays). She is healthy and growing very well! Weight: 28 lbs 14 ounces (98.56%) Height: 34.5 inches (99.98%) Head circumference 19 inches (96.61%) So Savanna continues to be our BIG, little girl! We can't believe how tall she is! There must be some tall genes that run on one of my birth parent's sides! (who knows?) Savanna has also taken off with her speech this month. She is one chatterbox! Her favorite things to say lately include: ma ma, daddy, my daddy, what's that, over there, right there, hello (though it is actually hilo-so funny), sticky (she has a sticky hand TC won for her at the game center and she loves it), oops, uh oh, apple, April (TC's sister), ball, blocks, doggie, up, and she has said even more! It is so funny she also tried to say giraffe and pajamas but can't say the beginning of it so she makes this funny sound with her tongue and says the last part. So funny! Savanna can also point out her hair, eyes, ears, mouth, tongue, toes, fingers, belly, nose, etc. She also seems to know a lot of animals. She can distinguish between her zebras, giraffes, lions, and elephants in her Little People Noah's ark. She even knows which one is Noah. This month Savanna has also been introduce to time out. She was "put" in time out yesterday for the first time after trying to throw her sippy cup in her friend, Elle's, face. Then when I was trying to explain to her not to throw she threw her puzzle piece in my face. This is really the big way Savanna acts out-by throwing things. We have had a problem with her throwing her food lately and it is kind of frustrating. Her time out consists of me sitting with her in a corner in my lap and not letting her get up for 1 minute (because she is 1 year old). Then I will tell her I love her and explain why what she did was "not nice". We also try to encourage her to clean up her food when she throws it as an alternative to time out. I hope I am doing a good job with disciplining. Any ideas from you mommies out there? I want to discipline with love but also firmness. Even with her occasional acting outs, we think Savanna's the sweetest, cutest little girl ever! We love her so much and she lights up our lives!

Potpourri of Events

So life has been busy these past couple weeks in the Perry household. I will try to catch you all up on what has been going on. Provo City Half Marathon: I don't want to brag but I am proud of myself for running this race on April 4th. I ran the half marathon relay with my friend, Tiffany. (So I ran 6.5 miles and she ran 6.5 miles). I was happy with my final time and found out later that we got third place out of the female relay runners. I was excited! (though there were only 25 runners in this category including the males and females) My friend, Tiffany, has run a marathon before and she was a great partner! Thanks Tiffany for running that with me! It was so fun and it was a great accomplishment for me. There is a 10 mile run the end of May and I'm thinking about it.. So I don't have any really good pictures from the occasion. My mom took a couple of me running but they are not that flattering so I think I will pass on posting them. Family Visit/Conference Weekend: So my parents, my younger brother, and my cousins from Arizona came into town for conference weekend. We had a fun time hanging out together. TC was able to go to priesthood in the conference center with the men from my family and I was able to go with my family to the Sunday morning session. It was so nice to be spiritually uplifted. My mom stayed longer and is actually taking off tomorrow to drive my brother back to school in Idaho and is then flying home. Savanna has enjoyed having her around and she is a great "Nana" to her. Thanks for everything you do for us, Mom! Here are some fun pictures.

Outside the conference center The girls in the fam went to the mall while the boys were at priesthood. Savanna loves playing at the playground at the mall but especially loves the big globe in the water.
The men in my family before heading to priesthood session (left to right-my cousin Vincent, his father and also my cousin, Michael, my hunky husband, TC, my wonderful father, and my two little brothers, Spenser and Jonathan).
I am so adorable aren't I? Can I please get on the computer? Am I getting into trouble? Of course, Daddy!
My mom and I had a visit with my friend, Kendyl, while she was here. I am holding her cute daughter, Audrey, in this picture.

I love Nana's food more than my own!

Lori's Baby Shower
So I was able to co host another shower with my same friend, Ashley, for our friend, Lori this past Saturday. We had a great time! I know it seems like I am obsessed with baby showers but I'm not. It is just a lot of my good friends are pregnant right now and they should all have a day that they feel honored and special! And I do like hosting them..I will admit that. Anyway, we love Lori! She is a wonderful girl who is always so sweet to everyone. We are excited to meet her new baby girl.

Easter Sunday
We had a wonderful Easter. My mom was still here and TC's sister, April spent the day with us as well along with my brother, Spenser. TC and I had to give talks on the Atonement in church. Here are some pics of the fun day. Easter Egg Hunt

House Hunting
So the search is officially on! TC and I have a realtor and are searching for a place to live. We are in the process of being pre-approved for a loan and have already gone out a few times to look for places. Wish us luck! It is very exciting but stressful at the same time.
