Busy Weekend

So we are finally in the thick of getting ready to move-June 13th is the official date. I really hate packing and moving but that is just the way it is. We made a lot of progress towards getting things set up this weekend. We got several appliances at Lowe's this weekend, then we pretty much have our furniture figured out, got a couple rugs for the house, and started packing up today, and figured out some of the colors we are painting Savanna's bedroom, and we may paint the kitchen now. It is a dent in the work, however, small. It is just so much work to move!! On top of that we visited our friends who just had a baby in the hospital Friday night, I ran in a 10 k Saturday, we met up with friends for dinner on Saturday night, and we had friends over for dinner last night! And we still have so much to do! I am feeling kind of overwhelmed. I really don't know how people move a lot. It is such a hassle!

Here are some fun pictures of Savanna playing in the bouncy house after my race.

Fun Family Day

So here are some fun pictures that we took last week when we went to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. My friend who used to work there gave us free admission tickets like two years ago and we finally used them. We had a great time. TC's sister, April, came with us and took these gorgeous pictures. Thanks so much!

Savanna Update

I just can't resist giving an update of our cute, little girl! Savanna is growing up so fast. She will be 17 months tomorrow. What has she been up to lately? Well, first of all she it talking up a storm! I can't even name all the words she says. This past week she has learned how to say wallet and glasses. She now practically runs around the house and is learning how to climb down stairs. She dances, laughs, smiles and fills our days with happiness! Knock on wood, her throwing of food and hitting has diminished at the moment so she has not been in time out for awhile. Has she learned from our wonderful discipline methods or is she just trying to come up with a new way to act out? Who knows! Here are some of Savanna's favorite things and activities:
1. Doggies-Savanna is loving dogs and gets excited every time she sees one in a picture, in real life, anywhere! She will excitedly yell, "Doggie, doggie, doggie!" It is so cute. TC's sister, April, has a dog and she loves seeing her. This past week she spents almost an half an hour feeding Cricket her dog food. TC cut out a bunch of dogs out of magazines and is planning on making a book for her.
2. Babies-Savanna is loving little babies. She will turn around in church and say baby over and over again. She even calls one year olds babies! (But I guess since most of them are a lot smaller than her she thinks they are babies). We got her a little baby and a baby stroller for a early 18 month present (we decided to get her just a couple of toys at her half birthday since she gets Christmas and her birthday all at once). Anyway, she loves her baby. She pushes her around the house and puts her in and out of her stroller. The baby has a hat though and Savanna becomes scared of her when her hat is off. It is pretty funny-she will run away and whine. I guess all of a sudden when baby's hat comes off she turns into a little alien!
3. Books-Savanna loves having books read to her. She often wants us to read the same books over and over again. The other day I read one of her favorites by Dr. Seuss called "It's Not Easy Being Big" 8 times. We will read it once and Savanna will hand it back to me and sign "again". It is so cute, I just can't resist. Another of her favorite books is "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" and has pictures of Jesus. It is so cool to hear her say Jesus with a respectful voice.
4. Blocks-Savanna loves stacking her blocks everyday. She always wants TC and I to watch her and help her make towers.
5. Balls-Savanna loves going outside and bouncing balls around. She has two bigger bouncy balls and then two smaller ones we won for her at the game center. She always says ball whenever she sees one and she also says the same thing when she sees balloons.
6. Flashcards-We have several different sets of flashcards that we read to Savanna to help her learn about different things including:instruments, animals, numbers, etc. Savanna loves looking at her flashcards! She will go to the drawer where they are kept and say "flashcards" and ask to get them out. She can even identify most of them when we ask her what they are. She has learned how to say- beetle, bumblebee, bladder (I know a weird one-they are pre made flashcards and one set is "body parts"), and guitar. It is so fun to watch Savanna love learning!
7. Playing outside-Savanna loves being outside whenever possible. She loves sitting in the grass, running around, playing at the park, going for walks, etc. Almost everyday, if I have not initiated going outside she will point to the door and grab her shoes.
8. Helping Mommy and Daddy-Savanna has become quite the little helper or at least she tries to be! If she finishes her food before us at dinnertime, she tries to sit on our lap and feed us our food and drink and wipe our face with a napkin. It is really cute! She also loves to brush my hair in the morning and help fold her laundry. Seriously, she loves laundry. I do laundry on Tuesdays and I fold all of it during her nap except for her clothes. She excitedly points to the dryer when she wakes up and tries to carry the hamper up the stairs. Of course, she sometimes gets bored helping and resorts to removing all of her clean clothes out of the drawers! She also tries to help with the dishes, puts the placemats on the table for dinner and has become much better about picking up her toys!
Anyway, I could go on and on but I will go for now. We love Savanna and are so happy to have her in our lives!

Playing outside

I love spaghetti!! Fun at the Park
I decided to invite my friend, Elle, over for dinner. Mommy and Daddy didn't mind.

Let's talk American Idol!

So all you American Idol fans out there what did you think of the finale? First of all, I could have done without the bikini dance from Katrina and Kara. Secondly, I have again been let down in the finale two years in a row when my favorite has NOT won! Most of you know that I was very angry after David Archuleta did not take the title last year. This year was not quite as big of a blow but it still was disappointing! Adam was my favorite from the beginning-his voice is incredible, he is super original, and his stage presence is unreal! At the beginning I would forget who Kris was! Granted, he did get better and I think he is talented but to me he does not measure up to Adam! Even most of the people who voted for Kris said that they thought Adam was a better singer but they liked Kris better! But isn't the best singer supposed to win American Idol? Maybe not, I don't know. I'm beginning to think it definetely is a popularity contest! I don't use my blog for a soapbox very often but I just can't resist this time. Congratulations, Kris! You did win American Idol and I should not begrudge you that. But in my mind, Adam is the American Idol same as David Archuleta was last year. Maybe next year America will get it right! What did you all think? Who did you think would win and were you happy with the results?

Welcome Holland!

Our friends, Bryan and Aleta, had their baby girl this past Wednesday-May 13th. They named her-Holland Gwen. She weighed in at 7 lbs 9 ounces and is 20 inches long. We were able to visit them at the hospital and Savanna had a great time. She was so excited and kept saying "Baby, baby" over and over again. She even once called her, "My baby!" Holland is a cute, little girl and slept peacefully most of the time we were there. Congratulations, Aleta and Bryan! We know you will be great parents!

Here is a picture of Savanna meeting Holland. She is not paying too much attention to her here but that only lasted a few seconds. Of course it had to be when I was taking a picture of them.

Mother's Day Weekend

So this is a late post recapping this past weekend. All the blogs I was checking talked about their Mother's Day weekend so I decided to write about ours as well. So we were a little bummed not to be in Texas this weekend like planned but we managed to still have a fun weekend. Friday night we went out to dinner with our friends at the Cracker Barrell. They should be parents any day now! Saturday afternoon we went to a ward barbecue and also got the opportunity to talk to TC's brother, James, who is on a mission. It was great to be able to catch up with him. He seems to be doing very well and we are sure he is a great missionary! That night, TC's sister, April, came down and a few of her friends came over for a later birthday/girl's night out! We had a great time eating food, chatting, and playing our favorite family game-"Celebrities" (for those of you that have not heard of it-I can tell you about it. It is a really fun game!) Sunday was great day. TC and April both got me a card and TC gave me an orange rose. TC did ALL the dishes that day and made me a scrumptous dinner consisting of pot roast, mash potatoes, garlic green beans, and orange cranberry bread! He also revealed to me that he ordered this awesome diaper bag I have been wanting but it is on back order until August. Thanks honey for such a great Mother's Day!!

PIctures of the House

So several people have asked about posting pictures of the house we are moving into. I have been a little reluctant just because I don't want to give away where we live to the general public but I think that if it does not have the number on it and too much information it should be ok. So here they are! They are not the most spectacular pictures. They are from the inspection and the house listing but they will have to do for now. It is weird because it is just other people's furniture and stuff. I would feel like I am invading their privacy though these are the pictures they listed for anyone to see. Anyway, enjoy!

Family Day

So now that TC works 10 hour shifts Tuesday-Friday and has Monday off we decided that we would try to do a fun family activity every Monday (preferably not super expensive though we may splurge and go to the zoo). So last night we went to the BYU Game Center and played a few games. TC rocks at the basketball and I am not too bad at skee-ball. We were able to collect enough tickets to get a couple prizes for Savanna. We got her two new "stickys" (she calls them this, they are otherwise known as sticky hands. She absolutely loves them! She was so excited when she saw we got some for her that she started yelling, "Sticky, sticky, sticky!"). We also got her two rubber bouncy balls. I am grateful for my wonderful family and the time I get to spend with them! Here are some pictures of our evening.

Savanna proudly saying "Sticky!" (I am not sure what I am doing!)

Savanna loves getting up here and trying to dance! Playing some skee-ball!

Update to Trip Plans

Hi, thanks to all of you that gave your advice on my question of postponing our trip. We have decided to postpone it and go at a later date. I am very disappointed about it but just feel too uneasy about it to go. We are definetely planning on going sometime soon though this really was the perfect time to go. In June we will be busy moving, then the end of July we are going to Montana/Washington with TC's family, then in October we are going to Alaska to see TC's sister and her family, Thanksgiving in Florida, and Christmas in Washington. SOO- either beginning of July, sometime in August or September. We will be come, Candace!! We want to see that cute little girl! Life is getting crazy and busy. I guess it always kind of has been but even more so. I am excited to get into our house but I really hate moving! We close June 1st so after that we will start getting our stuff together.
