Weekend update

So we had a really fun weekend. Friday night we went to see the new Harry Potter movie with some friends. Thanks to Spenser for babysitting! And thanks to Tim and Aubrey for inviting us! We had a great time. We actually got free tickets because Tim got them from his parents I believe somehow. I can't remember how. We also got free popcorn and soda so we felt totally spoiled! I surprisingly liked the movie. I am really not a Harry Potter fan. I have not read any of the books and the only thing I remember about the previous movies is there was an iguana in one of them (uggh I hate them!!!!). This one really held my attention though and I am so grateful for my patient husband that answered all my questions. At one point I actually asked "Is that Dumbeldorff? (sp) and yes now I do know that you do not pronounce it with a dorf on the end! Anyway, it was so sad though! I know most of you probably know what happens but I won't spoil it just in case. And I really think Hermini and Harry need to hook up. Isn't that what should happen? I love Ron-he is hysterical but Hermini and Harry just seem to match better to me. I guess I will wait and see what happens. Anyway, enough about that. Saturday afternoon my good friends, Joyce and Cassie, came over to chat and see our new house (pictured below). Anyway we had a great time chatting and catching up with them.

That night we had a little get-together with some friends from Provo at our house. We had a great time and are glad they came up to hang out with us! Here are some picture of the guests. Little Ellie

Aleta, Little Holland, and Katey

Sunday we were able to go to see my friend's Cassie baby Copper be blessed. Unfortunately, we did not actually get there until after the sacrament started. We got really lost and actually walked into a different church building first. Oops. Sorry Cassie! But then we did get to go to a brunch with her and her family and friends. Then my brother, Spenser, came to dinner. Savanna is really warming up to him. Here she is giving him a hug goodbye!

FYI, we have a family trip coming up, followed by one of my best friend, Candace and her family coming for a visit, followed by a family reunion so it may be a little while before I blog again but I will provide updates when things settle down a bit!

Welcome Katelyn!

I forgot when I posted the other day to honor another friend's baby that was just born. Our friends, Lori and Allen, had their baby girl on July 14th. We wanted to say congratulations to them and tell them how happy we are for them! Congratulations to Benson as well who I'm sure will make a great big brother! We have not seen her yet so we do not have any pictures but we are looking forward to meeting her!

Savanna's stats

I thought I would humor you all with Savanna's stats from her 18 month old check up yesterday. (even though she is almost 19 months-her year appointment was later because of the holidays so now she is getting all her check ups a bit later). Anyway, the doctor also confirmed that Savanna is getting a TON of teeth! (his words verbatim). He said that all her molars have poked through and she is getting a lot of others as well. I guess she is catching up since she's only had 6 teeth since February but I feel bad for her that they are all coming in at once. That must hurt! Anyway, here are her stats. Weight: 31 pounds 2 ounces-Off the charts Height: 35 3/4 inches-Off the charts Head Circumference: 19 1/4 inches-Off the charts Vocabulary: I am not even sure how many words she says. The doctor gave us a sheet that says that children usually have a vocabulary of 20 words by 2 years and she definetely has more than that (not to brag or anything-I definetely talk a lot so I'm sure she has picked that up!). She also says some phrases and puts a couple of words together. Her favorite phrases include "Oh no!" and "All done!" She also says "our car" and "momma's car" and sometimes calls TC "my daddy." What a sweet little (or should I say BIG?) girl we have. We are so happy to have her in our lives!

We are grateful for our friendships!

This weekend, I was able to reflect on how grateful I am for the wonderful friends I have in my life. TC and I have made great friends over the years. We are so grateful for the part they play in our lives. Most of you know that I am a very social person and love spending time with friends so these relationships we have with others greatly enriches my life! Although family is always the most important in our life, how lonely we would feel without all the amazing people we have met along the way! We try to keep in touch with all of our friends who have moved farther from us but I know we could do better. Thank goodness for blogging so I am able to stak all of you-just kidding. Well not really, I guess. Looking at others blogs sometimes feels like that but I guess it is just stalking with permission!
I think I felt like this so much because I have been so sappy about moving and it has made me appreciate my friendships so much more. And this weekend I was able to spend time with some wonderful friends of ours. Friday night, we had our friends-Jeremy and Tiffany over for dinner. We have been friends with them for how long now-6 years? We all met in our singles ward before we were married. TC and Jeremy were roommates. We have managed to keep in touch with them over the years and they are always there to help us out when we need them. Tiffany is one of the most kind hearted people I have ever met and Jeremy always keeps us laughing with his blunt comments!
Then Saturday was a great day because I was able to be a part of a baby shower/luncheon for my good friend, Ashley E. A bunch of the girls from my now old ward (BYU 5th) met up to celebrate Ashley having a baby in just a few weeks. Here is a picture of all of us having a good time.
I love all these girls. I cant believe this-I am crying now. What is my problem? They are amazing women and I appreciate all of their exmaples to me. They all have touched me in different ways and all of their friendships are unique and irreplacable. They all love me despite my spastic ways. Ashley E. and Aleta demonstrated that at the lunch as they tried to gently stop me from destroying the chocolate cake I was cutting for everyone to eat. (You all know that making things look good and crafts and all that business is not my thing. I call it an anti-talent.) We are also grateful that we are finally meeting people and starting to make some friends here in our new neighborhood. It has been a bit of a transition moving (I don't really love change). I find that wherever you go there are new, exciting people to get to know. Anyway, I hope this post doesn't come off wrong. I am not trying to be like, "Oh look at me. I'm so awesome. I have tons of friends!" I don't mean that. I know I could be a better friend than I am at times. My point is just to let all my friends out there know that I love you and appreciate you even if I haven't talked to you in a little while. I would name you all off but I'll spare you of any more sappiness. I don't know why I got all emotional all of a sudden-sorry about that. Anyway, just hope that this post will help you reflect on all the people in your life who are important to you. Whether you have 1 close friend or 100 I bet you feel they all are important and have touched you in different ways!

Week of Mishaps (did I spell that right?)

So yeah ever had one of those weeks where annoying things keep happening? Yeah, this week was kind of like that for me. Usually, my weeks go relatively smoothly and I feel like I am on top of most things. Not so much this week. I just felt like the odds were stacked against me and little things kept happening to irritate me. I must be sending negative energy out to the universe this week! (those of you that are familiar with "The Secret" know what I am talking about). Anyway, so it started on Monday. Savanna and I were getting ready in the morning and about to head out to the grocery store. Then I remembered that swim lessons started that day! (Savanna is taking swim lessons for the next few weeks). Anyway, I look at the clock and it is 9:40 and our class starts at 9:40 and it is about 10 minutes away. So I hurry and get our swim suits on and run out the door. As I am driving I take a wrong turn (still getting used to this area) which makes me even more behind schedule. Finally I get there and our class is just ending. Our instructor was there though and told us we could hang out for 45 minutes and attend the 11:00 class. I said ok so Savanna and I headed over to the kid pool for the next little bit. Anyway, by the time we were ready for class Savanna whined the whole time because she was done swimming. Oh and I also forgot that while heading to swim lessons I somehow lost my earring, then I dropped Savanna's barrette in the car and still can't find it and couldn't find Savanna's bracelet that my mom got for her just last week(I did find that in a box on the floor of our closet-random, she must have dropped it in there). Anyway, after we get home I set Savanna on the floor and her swim diaper starts leaking and leaves a huge puddle of pee on our wood floor that I had to clean up. Then during Savanna's nap I went to bake this Amish friendship bread that my friend gave to me only to realize that the only very ESSENTIAL ingredient I am mising is baking soda! So I rushed over to my friend's house 2 doors down and borrowed some from her trying to listen to my monitor while Savanna is asleep and it is clearly out of range. So then I hurry back and realize that the bread called for vanilla pudding and vanilla extract which I don't have but I do have orange extract and orange instant pudding so I decided the bread will be orange! Actually it was pretty good. Anyway, then TC went on a wild goose chase after work to find a lawn mower and gave up but did end up gettting another one the next day from a Home Depot that wasn't as close to our house. Then we found out on Tuesday that the shelves we ordered from our kitchen were somehow never sent so they next day delivered them. We got them on Wendesday and they have about 4 dents in them! Then last night we were out to dinner with my parents and the milk and the water sippy cups somehow leaked and drenched my 2 month old, beautiful diaper bag! It is water proof though so it ok. Oh and Savanna scratched our new coffee table the other day when she moved my laptop and jammed a cd into our c.d. player when I wasn't looking when there was already another one in there. (thankfully it did not destroy the player though there are scratches on both c.d.s -one being The American Idol c.d. my friends made me of this past season..uggh. They both still play but skip in places). We have to put it up higher where she can't reach it. Oh and Wednesday after swim lessons I changed there because we were going straight to play group and somehow dropped my swim bottoms and lost them in the process of getting to the car. And Savanna was really cranky the whole day-she just hasn't been herself as much lately. Oh yeah, she is getting all FOUR molars at once. Anyway, need I say more? At least, we are all still healthy and happy and none of it was traumatic. No, actually I forgot to mention that last week somebody stole TC's cell phone while we were at the kid pool. We filed a crime report and they did return it to the police station after tracking it down. They returned it after running over it with a car and stealing the memory card. Nice.

Congratulations Jonathan!

My little brother, Jonathan, got his mission call! He opened it yesterday and we listened in on the phone as he read it. He is leaving September 16th to serve in the Canada, Calgary mission. He will be serving an English speaking mission though he thinks he may learn a little bit of French. We are very excited for you ,Jonathan, and know that you will be a great missionary! I still can't believe that you are old enough to go on a mission. It seems like just yesterday you were wearing your cowboy boots around the house and watching Thomas the Train! Time really does fly. We love you and will be praying for you through your whole mission!

Fourth of July weekend!

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. We spent the weekend in Provo with my parents who are in town until Thursday. My cousin, Michael, also came down from Idaho and my brother's girlfriend, Paige, spent a lot of the weekend with us as well. TC had Friday off so we drove down in the morning and visited with our good friends, Bryan and Aleta, to start out. Then after Savanna's nap we headed over to 7 Peaks for a couple hours. We hung out at my parents' house that evening. Saturday was a fun filled day. We went to the parade in the morning and walked around the different booths on Center Street. Then that evening we had a barbeque with my family and then we all went to The Stadium of Fire. It was so fun!! I have never really heard anything about the Jonas brothers but they are pretty good actually. Against my better judgement, I found myself dancing to the beat. Savanna was great the whole weekend! She had so much fun with all the family. She missed the fireworks at the Stadium of Fire because she fell asleep right before but still had a great time. Sunday we went to my brother's ward and enjoyed my mom's wonderful pasta for dinner! We are grateful for our wonderful families and all they do for us! We are grateful for this amazing country and for the freedoms we enjoy! We appreciate all those who are serving our country and we pray for them and their families! My brother, Spenser, is in the military and we are so proud of him and his dedication to his country. We hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend. Enjoy the pictures!
