Tribute to Grandpa Perry

Another monumental though more somber event this past May was the death of TC's paternal grandfather, Thomas Clarence Perry, who passed away on May 25th, 2008 just 4 days before his 90th birthday. TC and I were already planning on going to his home in Foys Lake, Montana for his 90th birthay party but ended up going for the funeral instead. It was a wonderful funeral honoring Grandpa Perry's life. It was great to see so much extended family gathered together. Unfortunately, TC and I forgot our camera so we do not have any pictures from this trip. We love you Grandpa Perry and you will surely be missed!!!

American Idol

So most of you that know me well are aware that I am a little obsessed with American Idol. Therefore, another one of the highlights this month was the American Idol finale though I was extremely disappointed with the results!!! I thought for sure David Archuletta had it!! He outperformed David Cook in the finale. I think Simon jinxed him by declaring him the winner!! Nonetheless, David Archuletta will remain forever my American Idol!! The American Idol tour is coming to Utah again this year and TC and I are planning on attending!!! I am excited!!!

Florida

So we had a fun trip to Florida this month to visit Ashley's family. TC was only able to stay for 4 days but he had fun while he was there. Savanna and I were able to stay for a week and a half which was nice. I was really worried about Savanna on the plane but she did great. Highlights of the trip included Ashley's brother, Jonathan's graduation, Savanna meeting her great grandfather, and Savanna standing on the beach. Hope you enjoy all the pictures!!! This was my first attempt at uploading pictures so had some problems with that but TC has since showed me how to do it and hopefully the next post with pictures will look much better!!

News

All right so I know I haven't kept up this last little bit on a weekly update. Sorry about that. Things have been pretty crazy lately so I'm going to post several different main events over this past month. First of all on a general note we are doing well. Savanna is getting cuter and cuter. Rolling over all the time now and giggling. We think she may be starting to teeth because she bites down on everything!! Well enjoy the updates!!

She Rolled!!!

Well I will put up pictures later but wanted to remain true to my word of posting once a week!! Anyway, this has been a good week. Savanna rolled over for the first time on Thursday but I was not there to see it and TC only saw it from the corner of his eye!! She had pooped and leaked through her diaper and TC put her on the floor on her belly while he cleaned up the changing pad on the pack and play and from the corner of his eye he saw her roll over! He said his first thought was, OH you rolled over!! But then his second thought was, "Wait you have poop on your back!" But luckily it did not get on the carpet! Anyway, he put her on her tummy again and she rolled onto her side but not onto her back again! We were very excited! She had not rolled over by her 4 month checkup so we asked the doctor about it and he said the actual time frame for rolling over is between 3-6 months with chubby babies being on the higher end but she did it! We are hoping she will do it soon so we can get it on video and post it here on our blog! She is awake and alert a lot more now and hitting and reaching for objects all the time. She has laughed out loud a few times but does not do it consistently. It is so much fun to watch her change and grow! We think she may be teething as well because she is starting to chew on everything and her naps are a bit more restless and choppy. We will see about that. I (Ashley) have had a bad cold this week but feeling somewhat better today. Savanna seems to have a little one again as well. Well hope you are all doing well! I will post some more pictures right now but now trying to get a few things done before Savanna wakes up like fold the laundry!!

Happy Anniversary/4 month Birthday to Savanna/Happy Birthday to Kaytlin

Well here I am-finally posting again. TC and I have made a goal to try to post once a week so we will see how that goes. Well this was a great week for us! On Saturday TC and I were able to celebrate our 3 year anniversary (which was yesterday the 23rd). I had a gift certificate for a free night's stay and a breakfast for two at the Homestead Resort in Midway that we had to use by June so April and George were generous enough to watch Savanna overnight. We had a great time and it was good to spend some time alone together. Then on Tuesday, April 22nd, Savanna had her 4 month birthday! I can't even believe it. She has her 4 month check up tomorrow. Today topped off the week as TC and I have a new niece and Savanna another cousin. Kristin and John Youngberg's baby girl, Kaytlin was born. We have not seen pictures yet but are waiting with excitement!! We have included a pictures of Savanna to illustrate where she starts at the beginning of the night and then where she ends up in the morning. We can't believe she moves that much-it is quite amusing!

Texas

Well, I am finally posting again. Well this past week we went to Texas to visit our good friends-Nate, Candace, and their two year old son, Garrett. We had a wonderful time!! They were great hosts! We went to San Antonio and saw the Alamo and saw the Capitol in downtown Austin. We dined at wonderful places such as the Cheesecake Factory, Rudy's and Chwy's. Garrett is such a good little boy and was great with Savanna! We were sad to leave but here we are back in Utah!

How We Met

We met when both of us lived in the same apartment complex and were attending the same singles ward. We became acquainted as friends when one of Ashley's roomates was interested in one of TC's roommates and always wanted to hang out at their apartment. Ashley came along for moral support. Ashley has to admit that her initial impression of TC was not the greatest. She was wondering why he was trying to act like such a "tough guy" by shaving his head and going by TC. One day she asked him why he didn't grow his hair out to which he replied that he could not and she also learned that he goes by TC to distinguish himself from his father who is named Thomas Clark and his grandfather who is Thomas Clarence. TC relates that when he first met Ashley he thought she was cute and was contemplating asking her out or another girl in the ward. He did think Ashley was slightly immature because she was engaging in often frivolous activities such as throwing water balloons out her apartment window at people walking by and wrestling with guys in the apartment lounge. (She has grown up since then, TC says!) TC decided to give it a go and ask Ashley out after he came home from a trip visiting his sister, April, in Arizona. His roommates related that Ashley had expressed an interest in him. (Actually Ashley's roommate was trying to hook her up with TC and told his roommates Ashley wanted to go out with him. Ashley did not entirely object.) So TC called Ashley and asked her to go with a group to Pirates of the Caribbean. Their first official single date was to Wendy's (Way to go, TC, lol) TC and Ashley dated exclusively for about a year before becoming engaged in December of 2004 and were then married on April 23rd, 2005 and it has been bliss ever since!

About Us

TC grew up in Washington and Ashley grew up in Southern Florida. TC is the oldest and has three sisters and one brother. Ashley is the oldest and has two younger brothers. Both attended Brigham Young University-Ashley majoring in Psychology and TC in Biotechnology. Ashley received a Master's degree from the University of Utah in Social Work. Both enjoy bowling, tennis, racquetball, and watching movies. They also like music and both play the piano and sing. They enjoy spending time with friends and family.
